If you are looking for a pediatric optometrist, then we invite you to contact our office for more information. We offer high quality treatment for your family, helping with the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric eye diseases, vision problems and eye trauma.
School Screenings vs. Comprehensive Eye Exams for Children Typically, pediatrician or school vision screenings check your child’s eyes for basic aberrations or abnormalities. But to ensure good vision and proper eye health development, a comprehensive eye exam by a pediatric optometrist is required.

Comprehensive eye evaluations are crucial in revealing potential vision problems, which can interfere with a kid's learning development. This exam includes tests for binocularity, refractive error, color vision, acuity and overall eye health.

Your child’s vision related learning skills will be assessed by evaluating the following:

  • Eye Focusing
  • Depth Perception
  • Color Perception
  • Eye Tracking
  • Eye Muscle Teaming
  • Peripheral Awareness
  • Near Visual Acuity
  • Distance Visual Acuity

How Often Should a Child Have and Eye Exam?

Children should have their first comprehensive eye exam at 2 years of age. If things are normal they should have another exam before entering kindergarten. For school aged children a yearly eye exam is recommended.

Glasses and Contacts for Kids

Should your child need glasses for vision correction, Advanced Eyecare has a wide variety of age-appropriate options. We are well acquainted with their preferred styles, shapes and colors. All of our frames are comfortable, durable and made with kid-friendly materials. Young children find the bright colored frames they love, while teens find the latest fashion trends scaled own to fit their faces.

Does your child lead an active lifestyle? Does your teen want to change their look and wear contacts instead of glasses? We are contact lens specialists who will discuss the appropriateness of contact with teen patients and their parents. Our staff is experienced in teaching how to properly insert, remove and care for contact lenses. They do this with patience and care in order to ensure a great experience and success for your teen.
